Water Conservation feed

We all realize that water conservation plays a big role in saving our environment, but most people don't realize that 30% of our electric generation goes toward fresh water creation and usage. TierraPath wants to offer water conserving solutions on our site to accelerate the usage of these products. This green pathway will continually change to showcase meaningful products and new technology that come to market. We have made a list of some of the best things you can do to make a rapid difference in your home:

Rain Barrels

The average water usage per person in United States is at least 100 gallons each day which includes drinking, bathing, cooking, washing, watering gardens, swimming and such. With this demand on our water resources, do we really need to use our drinking water for lawn care and plants? Harvesting natural rainwater is less consumptive and better for our environment. Not only will you have a free source of water for your yard, but you will also reduce storm water runoff that pollutes our oceans.

What it Does: An attractive rainwater harvesting system that captures and stores rain from your roof gutter runoff. This water can be used for watering your lawn and plants in the summer, or washing your car.

  • Capture natural soft water for your yard plants
  • Save on your water bill in summer months
  • Set up your own drip system from the barrel water source

Rainwater Collection Systems

What it Does: These systems work by diverting the flow of rainwater from your gutter into a rain barrel, so you can use it however and whenever you need it. You can also find the stylish Rainwater HOG here!

  • Construction made of a durable UV resistant hybrid corn plastic, thick walls to last a lifetime
  • Dual outlet ports for parallel filling of two barrel/tanks if desired
  • Automatic Overflow causes the rain water to back up to the downspout and uses the existing house drainage system when the tank/barrel is full

Toilet Lid Sink

What it Does: The SinkPositive toilet sink combo automatically runs with the toilet’s fresh water refill cycle after each flush meaning there are no knobs or handles to touch after hand washing reducing hand-transmitted diseases. Also, the elimination of faucet handles gives a welcome relief for persons with arthritis.

  • Reduces water use in bathroom by creating a sink out of fresh water flow to toilet
  • Water that is discarded down SinkPositive’s drain is reused to flush toilet
  • Sink activates on every flush allowing hand washing w/o touching faucet handles

RainTube

What it Does: The RainTube fits snugly into the body of the gutter, allowing water in while shedding leaves and debris. The curved profile of RainTube creates an airfoil that helps dry and lift material that would normally stick to a flat surface or screen. It can easily be removed and replaced for inspections or if the gutter ever becomes damaged.

  • Patented proprietary design is sized and engineered specifically for use in gutters
  • Impervious to UV exposure and other environmental elements such as cold, heat, acid rain and animal attack
  • Product is made with 100 percent post-consumer recycled material and is 100% recyclable. The only "green" product in the industry

Greywater Recycling

What it Does: In homes across the U.S., the bathroom accounts for 74 percent of water used. About 5 percent of all domestic water consumption runs from the lavatory faucet in the sink, and eventually into the sewer. About 40 percent of all domestic water consumed is used to flush toilets. Simple to install, AQUS® uses water from bathroom sinks to flush toilets.

  • AQUS® uses water from bathroom sinks to flush toilets
  • Reduces usage in a 2-person house by 10–20 gal per day/5,000 gal. per year
  • No change to the normal operation of your lavatory sink and toilet
